These 3 men make up the group which is called the Classy Folk Cicc (cfc). Ever since Mongo Slane was 12 he was very much into music. He started off wanting to sing, but when puberty hit he lost that talent, but he began to write poetry and lyrics. When he moved to Irving in the year of 1994 it is then he discovered his gift to freestyle off the top of his head. That’s when he met his partners in music Slimm and Shon. We automatically became close. We played basketball together, and lived right across the street from each other, except Shon, he lived in AGG-Town (Arlington). Sports was going to be our future, but things do go as planned. Mongo Slane would battle and freestyle in before school would begin. All the students would head back towards the gym area and Labarren would beat on the glass because the bass was so loud. Mongo Slane, Sam White, and the Golden Child would just flow. The kids loved it, it was like a club inside the school. We would turn off the lights and they would go crazy. We called this place the dungeon. It was our sanctuary. But as years went by Mongo would make a name for himself. He was a ghetto superstar. He would battle any body any where. Soon his group members wanted in on the rapping thing. And that’s when cfc was born, 1999. We would record on tape recorders. We had a band with a drummer and a guitarist and Mongo would rap and Slimm would sing. But it was hard to be serious with Mongo always in and out of jail for numerous reasons, mostly hustling on the streets. In the year of 2003 is when we hooked up with Mr. Boomtown. He taught us every thing about recording, mixing, and filming. He was our mentor and like a big brother. We starred in his movie he directed called Dominos. Mongo played a rapper named Money, and Slimm played a rapper named Skinny. This film is available at Blockbuster and Walmart. We wrote and produced songs for this independent film. We started to so local performances and the crowds absolutely loved us. We did songs with other local artists like Mr. Lucci. We performed with DSR and Big Tuck. Mongo use to do promotions for Swishahouse and Chamillionare. We were on fire. We had the Boomtown name out there. But money was real tight so everybody went there separate ways temporarily. And Mongo would go back to the streets making fast money. And he was locked up for a long time. It put a pause on the Classy Folk Clicc. The music wouldn’t be the same without Mongo. Now after serving time in the Penn. Mongo is more focused and determined to make it happen in this rapping. He doesn’t want to let his group down. We are more then just partners, we are brothers in this music and in life. We make damn good music. All we need is the right exposure. For people to hear us, and I know they will love what we have to offer the music industry. We can be one of the greats, legends in hip hop or music period. Give us a chance, an opportunity. Somethings gota give. Its Classy Folk Clicc till we dead and gone.
