The story of Windsor's "sonically rich and melodically driven" band 8ight Past Nine starts in September 2005 with two sets of best friends.
"We've been best friends since highschool", says songwriter/lead vocalist and guitarist Will Hawksworth of Kevin Jarvis (also songwriter/lead vocalist and guitarist). "We've always been close. My old man taught me how to play guitar and I showed Kevin a couple chords. Next thing you know, we were writing songs together."
Finding members who share a musical vision is always difficult when forming a band, especially in a border town known more for its Pontiacs than its percussionists. Fortunately, Hawksworth says he and Jarvis already had a mutual friend in mind. "Our drummer, Ken Money$$, has been a very close friend of ours forever", he explains.
Meanwhile, two close friends and seasoned professional musicians, Chuck Arsenault (keyboards and backing vocals) and Todd Kidd (bass and backing vocals) had come off the road and were looking for a new gig.
"We met Chuck at a park, says Hawksworth. He was walking around with a case for his trumpet, so Kevin asked him if he was a musician. It turned out that Chuck is a multi-instrumentalist, so we ended up jamming. And our bass player, Todd Kidd, is a close friend of Chucks, so he invited him to come aboard."
And so was born a talented collective with a penchant for vocally rich modern rock with uncommon maturity.
