Solvent UK are a four piece band from St Ives (Cambridgeshire, UK) bringing influences such as Green Day, Weezer, Foo Fighters, The Pixies & Biffy Clyro.
From catchy, sing-a-long anthems to dark, moody melodrama or just good old fashion grinding rock. Solvent UK fuse Indie, Alternative, Rock and Punk, combining technical ability and song writing sensibilities with an ear for a good tune.
From day one Matt, Ben, Craig & Dave set out to produce great songs and to play in front of as many people as possible, drawing from wide and varied influences. Fads, fashions and image are not on their remit. It's all about entertainment, empathy and great sounds.
Solvent UK in March 2006 earned their place in the 'Red Stripe Cambridge Battle of the Bands Competition' getting down from more than 100 bands in the area to the final 16 and winning the audience vote over the entire competition they earned 5th place. Their album 'Nazca Lines' is also now available featuring some highly catchy songs including 'Waking Up', 'Back To The Start' & 'We All Fall Down'.
Interestingly there are many very different styles of songs on the CD, from commercial catchy pop/rock songs such as 'Wasting All My Time' & 'Track You Down' to powerful and deep tunes such as 'Nazca Lines' & 'Loss Leader'.
October 2007 brings also their brand new EP entitled 'Pause'.

Music Reviews
"Consistently upbeat material, with variations in guitar lines and some cosmetic backing vocals adding to tight, almost punky pop songs which could have come straight off the soundtrack to an American teen drama!"
Local Secrets
"Good song writing and possibly the most downbeat band and that's not a criticism, good tight playing and something generously understated about Solvent UK's music makes their appearance all the more welcome where so many acts are overly concerned unnaturally about image and performance"
Hunts Post
"Interesting!...sounds a bit like early Lemonheads – after the hardcore stuff, but before the chart stuff"
