Michael Plater is a solo singer/songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia. Taking in various indie, lounge, folk, gothic, and “noir” influences, his music has been compared to such artists as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, The Triffids, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, and Joy Division. His debut cd "Rented Rooms" was released early in 2006. He is currently working on the follow up, due for release early 2008.
