Must Be Tuesday is an alternative folk rock act from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. With influences ranging from powerpop to jazz to skater punk, the style often shows a sensibility derived from each of these genres. MBT's sound, which has been described as eclectic, incorporates vocal harmonies, a full synthesized rock band, and memorable, comedic lyrics. It gets an enthusiastic response from first time listeners, as well as dedicated fans.
MBT’s first CD, a five-song EP, was independently released in July 2007. It’s called My Boyfriend’s Girlfriend, and includes smart catchy comedy songs about break ups, having multiple partners, and the hilarity of revenge. It’s available online and in stores (including Megatunes and Listen), and some of the tracks have been played on radio stations like CJSR and CJSW. Must Be Tuesday performs in and around Edmonton in promotion of the CD, and is available for booking by contacting info@mustbetuesday.com.
Must Be Tuesday is currently a solo act, with songwriter Nancy Price as the sole composer and performer. She has been writing music since age ten, and has been interviewed about her music on the radio and in print. (Check out issue #3 of Notebook Magazine for an example.) She is constantly writing new songs and improving her instrumental and vocal skills.
In addition to singing, Nancy plays the piano and guitar, writes drum and bass parts, composes and does arrangement for every song. One of her biggest strengths, though, is her lyrics, which range from hilarious to moving, hateful to joyful. By using inspiration from events in her real life, she causes the audience to relate to the songs on a personal level, making the lyrics all the more funny, or bitter, or both at once.
