A brief history on how we came together:
Vocalist Mike Mitchell and Drummer Craig Dubin formed Beneath Your Ego in 2006 from the ashes of the still smoldering Alternative Country Punk band Rexway. During their 6 year run with Rexway, they played countless shows across the Midwest, distributing thousands of CD's to an ever growing list of rabid fans. Their resume included everything from having songs on internationally distributed Fox Racing extreme sports videos, to playing HBO Reverb, and eventually working with former Porno For Pyro's guitarist Peter Distefano at the world famous Westlake Audio recording studios in Hollywood, CA.
Mitchell and Dubin worked for a while with guitarist Pat Searcy (Drug Under, Shoot Romeo, Rexway), writting a few songs and working on some recordings that were never to be released. Eventually Mitchell and Dubin parted ways with Searcy to continue their search for the right guitarist for this project.
Enter Greg Gibb the current guitarist of the distorted pop band Rubber Planet. While Mitchell and Dubin were working on writing and recording several songs for the bands debut, they called on long time friend, Greg Gibb to step in and track several acoustic leads. Greg's own personal resume with his nationally touring band Rubber Planet includes several full length albums, opening for such notable acts as Lifehouse and Flickerstick; as well as, earning a spot on the Vans Warped Tour show in Denver, CO. Beneath Your Ego's addition of Gibbs burning melodic acoustic leads can only be described as the "perfect fit".
While focusing on the art of a song writing and polishing this new sound, Mitchell had been doing some studio recordings with long time friend Chris Kooman in Koomans studio. Needing bass on some of the tracks Kooman offered to lay down some on some of the sessions. When the time came to take the project live, Mitchell offered Kooman the position as bassist in the band. Unfortunately at the time Chris was having shoulder surgery and was unavailable. Beneath Your Ego eventually hooked up with bassist Sean Murphy currently with the Denver based Punk Rock band 8 Second Burnout. The two had met through long time mutual friend Peter Distefano. After a few months and a hand full of shows, Murphy chose to leave the band. At this time Kooman having fully recovered from his shoulder surgery was ready and available to fill the slot.....but as fate would have it after a few short months of shows and recording yet again with Beneath Your Ego Chris was called to work on the East Coast, and left BYE just before the Holidays in 2007.
The seemingly revolving door of bassists was once again open, which led the band to long time friend and fan Pat Gartland. In early 2008 with the addition of Pat on bass, the lineup for Beneath Your Ego is once again, and finally complete!
This highly anticipated new project featuring a powerhouse of seasoned musicians; is currently working on an ever expanding library of new material and playing a variety of shows in the Rocky Mountain region. Beneath Your Ego is also looking for an established management team for collaboration on production, marketing and touring.
