The Wow Signal are a noisy foursome based in Shoreditch, east London. The album, ""Infinity's Lobby"", is a whiff of blues-tinged raucousness that veers between the two extreme sounds of blues and rock via 90s grunge.
Admittedly, you would be forgiven for thinking that you have been transported back to the heyday of 90s grunge bands like Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, but that concept is too facile. Instead, ""Infinity's Lobby"" delivers an amalgam of references from Nirvanesque guitars on the intro to album opener, ""Purr Right"", to Siouxsie and the Banshees' stixman, Peter Clarke, AKA Budgie-esque thunder-clap drumming on ""The Other Half of Myself""; courtesy of drummer, Darren Lee. Track Four, ""Debunked"", offers a reflective moment with vocalist, Andrew Mangold, whilst on punk opera, ""Lovers Scam"" he channels the 'gutsy wail' of Soundgarden's, Chris Cornel. The Talking Head's ""Road To Nowhere""-inspired guitars on ""They Got It Wrong"", and the U2 mid-80s anthemic sound on ""All You Will Discover"" remind us of what it was that made rock/experimental 80s music great.
""Infinity's Lobby"" will appeal to lovers of uncompromised rock 'n'roll.
