We are a trio of old school tone explorers who generate grooves around the band’s instrumental grandfather, the upright bass. We create bare acoustic funk, whipped in with Latin rhythmic sauciness and eastern European infatuation. “Urban Gypsy Soul” is what we call our vibe. As three musical compatriots, all hailing from Western Canada, (where we received most of our musical education), we are: Rosa Smedley - Songwriter/Vocalist/Bassist/Guitarist, Kevin Bertram – Bassist/Guitarist/Accordionist/Vocalist and Brandon Goodwin – Drummer/Percussionist/trumpeter.

As a group, we have developed an explosive acoustic trade-mark style, with rapid-fire vocals, rollicking accordion, emphatic dancing bass, puzzlingly funky drums and root-down gypsy picking guitar. Within our own musical dynamic, we aspire to represent a vibrant new vitality on the Montreal Independent Music Scene. During the past year, we have shared the stage with a number of the city’s “up and coming” artists, including: Mark Berube and The Patriotic Few, The Unsettlers, The Ladies of the Canyon, Lake of Stew, Charlotte Cornfield, The John Cohen Experimental, The Winks and The Winter Gloves.

Last year, OKgiraffe successfully hosted the 1st Annual Mustache Party at Le Divan Orange. We are currently looking forward to presenting another enthusiastic event at Le Divan Orange this October, with the launch of our new self-titled CD record
