Nefastus Diès officially took form in summer 2005 and two months later, released their promo cd 'Prelude'. They then embarked on a promotional tour to support the recording in january 2006. In march 2006 they entered Yannick St-Amand's studio to record their first full length album 'Urban Cancer'. They then signed with an undergound label but quickly realised that this label did not have the proper ressources to promote this album. The band bought back every copy the label had printed and bought out the contract to seek out a more adequate label. The band went out and played several shows including their first american/canadian tour. This got the attention of UKs Siege Of Amida Records who signed them to a deal for Urban Cancer to be released through SOARs american partner Candlelight USA. The band returned in early 2009 with a new 2 track promo to be released only on the internet to help fans wait for the follow-up album, as well as show the evolution in the band's sound.
