The Aquatic Ape Theory is the recording project of songwriter/musician Jim Behrens, a midwesterner who found his way to the California coast. The sound is based around an acoustic folk rock core, with sojourns into jazz, ambience, and psychedelia. A wealth of collaborators, such as Steph Mumma, Smooth Tooth, Jess Field, and Scott Nooner, lend their talents. The debut, self-titled album is available now.
