Christie McCarthy writes smart songs and delivers them with a voice as unique as Annie Lennox or kd lang. McCarthy's third independent release Everyday Real showcases her penchant for strong songwriting and moving vocal performances. Her sultry jazz tune Nothing Moves Me was selected by Sharper Image and Target stores for inclusion on their respective compilation CDs, and was a finalist in the 2003 UK Songwriting Contest. Flood Gates took 1st place in the Americana category of the 2003 West Coast Songwriter Competition.
As a performer, McCarthy digs deep. Her solo show lends itself to both humor and introspection, and for the past few years she has found a niche opening for well-known speakers Rachel Naomi Remen, MD (Kitchen Table Wisdom) and Neale Donald Walsch (Conversations With God) at international conferences.
McCarthy is equally at home onstage with her 4-piece band at venues like Hotel Cafe in LA and Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco, and is a member of the folk-rock trio She's Out There, who fans affectionately refer to as ""the chick version of Crosby, Stills and Nash.""
McCarthy grew up in Los Angeles and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her musical influences include Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles and Willie Nelson.
