Robert Green was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He started singing around 6 years of age and started writing his own songs and playing the keyboards at seventeen. Robert cites some of his influences as The Gap Band, Prince and Stevie Wonder. He says he has accumulated about 150 songs covering Gospel, R&B, and Pop. On his album “From Me 2 You”, Robert Green didn’t do anything groundbreaking, but what he did was deliver a solid R&B album that is true to himself.

Avoiding the temptation to latch on to trendy production was a smart idea, and the instrumentation utilized throughout the album gives it an authentic feel. He’s proven that he is a master songwriter when it comes to creating ballads or upbeat numbers. Every song on the album is a positive expression of love in some way or other that anyone can surely relate to.

From the album, comes the single “Rear View”, where Green switches from crooning serenades to an effortless mid-tempo groove, delivering his version of a love song in a dynamic way. Taking charge and pulling at the heartstrings, the track builds easy, milking every beat and phrase, and enhancing the atmosphere to deeply draw you into his every word.

Such tracks are the ones that resonate in particular, as each line is sung with such passion and emotion; they’re the forerunners, encapsulating the tender power of Robert Green. This track finds Green in a natural vocal flow that highlights his subtle finesse and distinctive phrasing, complemented by a pleasing rhythm-section arrangement that fees authentic and appropriate.

The down-to-earth lyrics mesh well with the unfiltered production and his earnest, relatable vocal stance. Stylistically, “Rear View” demonstrates that Robert Green is able to absorb a variety of influences and still sound comfortable within contexts outside of romantic slow-jams.

And during that process, he never loses his knack for what he does best while trying to prove his versatility. He’s really trying to get back to the basics of music that has a more authentic feel.

Robert Green is different from most R&B artists because he actually knows about all of the elements of music, and what makes up a song. He writes, produces, sings, and does his own melodies and harmonies. For that alone, he gets plenty of kudos from me.

He is a real artist. He knows his music. This man can play a piano effortlessly. So, by him being the musician that he is, I imagine that he naturally wrote, produced and, of course, sang, his album, and this song.
