Supporting two solo CD releases, Sandy is an independent singer, songwriter and composer from St. Louis... her original songs draw life from the rich crosscurrents of acoustic folk-rock, pop, and jazz music. The result is vibrant, current, original music with an emotional and timeless feel...her unique approach to this voyage of fantasy is a solo act that continually ascends. In an interview and review of her album, The Renegade wrote: ""Sandra Phillips brings a unique sound and vision to the St. Louis music scene, and to the national New Age scene at large. She is worthy of industry attention.""
Sandy's music has received airplay throughout the US as well as Europe, Spain, Russia and Germany. Her album Life's Journey was distributed at the 2003 SXSW Music Conference & Festival in Austin, Texas... and her songs included on a new compilation CD recently released entitled ""Coffee and New Age"", by Coffee House Music. Sandra was also
a guest performer on a recent track by Rob Perry entitled ""Fall The Shadows"", which has been placed on the ""Tunes For Pets Vol. 1 CD".
Sandra's originality is evident through fresh and masterfully engaging melodies. Moving from dynamic, instrumentals and full-bodied pop songs to guitar driven voice numbers, the adept ingenuity of her original compositions, artistry and melodic poetry draw listeners into an intimate self-portrait where they may encounter a parallel with their own likeness. Her commitment is inspired by her faith, but her music extends beyond the boundaries of genre classification. Bill Kostyan of TheNightGuide wrote: ""Once you hear her music the album becomes a ""must have"". The artist will not only generate emotions but visions of emotional states. It's actually a unique narration of different emotional states. No one, I mean no one since Gershwin has painted such a beautiful picture for the eyes of my mind.""
Sandra's CD, Life's Journey, consists of a mixture of many styles, including both vocal and instrumental tracks...introspective ballads and mid-tempo to upbeat tunes. The album, Life's Journey and it's melodic, upbeat and fresh sound is echoed by the title track. Life's Journey is a distinctive blend of acoustic, pop, jazz and a slight r&b flavor totally in tune with contemporary trends. The rhythms flow with harmony and eloquence.
Sandy also Founded IndieByte.com (formerly Muziquenet.com), an online networking community with a focus on unsigned artists and bands in the music industry for all genres, globally. Sandy is currently working on new music, and a few small projects for radio - as well as collaborating with guitarist Rob Perry.
Sandy's latest single, Fare Thee Well (Goodbye) entwines compelling vocals with mid-tempo guitar driven tunes. The project blends an acoustic performance style with a jazz edge, showcasing the poetic and musical variety of this singer/songwriter. Introspective lyrics (by John Turner) and a sometimes mildly-edgy melody make for an eclectic feel.
