Rather than a 3rd person professional biography, I'm just going to be real here. I'll tell my own story for now.
I grew up loving music from early childhood in the 1970s listening to the Top 40, and Rock radio stations of the time; and borrowing, and buying records to play on my record player, or Mom's stereo. As a high school student in the 1980s I got the notion that I would like to create, and perform my own music. After high school I got a drum kit, a toy drum machine, a bass guitar, and a synthesizer. I used those, and a rigged recording system to start recording home demos of my original songs.
2 years after graduating high school I moved to Murfreesboro, TN to attend Middle Tennessee State University for a Recording Industry degree with dreams of becoming a successful recording artist. I was active in the local Murfreesboro/Nashville music scene from 1984-1998. I performed as lead vocalist & songwriter in various bands and projects through those years. Several of my songs were recorded by various means, and in local studios especially making use of the studios at MTSU. A few of my songs were played on Nashville radio stations. After being fairly prolific creating music for most of that time, in the late 1990s I started finding it difficult to develop music ideas to completion. I developed my last song in 1996, and gave up trying in 1998.
In 2021 while seeking help for anxiety I learned while working with my psych team that the anxiety was driven by ADHD. I started getting treatment, and after 23 years, I found myself again able to make music! Much had changed after 23 years. I basically had to learn all new ways to create and share my music. I decided to share that journey publicly by sharing my new songs with public releases as J-Vance.
I released several recording as J-Vance, but found for various reasons that choice of artist name was problematic. I also felt a nagging desire to rescue some of the old music I created in the 19805 & 1990s which never got a proper release. Solution: my new project Pan-Pan Fell, and an album consisting of new versions of music I originally created decades ago. I will still create brand new music, but it has been great to rescue these old songs. I hope you enjoy.
Much more already planned & in the works!
