Sharp Practise plays classic, English rock with more than a nod towards folk and blues. We have released four albums, Hiya (2000), Radiocity (2005,) Banging The Rocks (2009) and Now You See Us (2010). We have won several awards, including a UK New Music Award in 2007 for our website at www.sharppractise,com.

An appearance on Ground Zero TV in Australia led to playlisting around the world. “It’s Alright” from “Hiya” was featured on a DVD by Japanese TV star Chieko Mitsui and “Eve Got Adam” appeared on the “Rock for Athletes” CD produced for Italian sportswear company Fila.

Songs from our second album “Radiocity” won Track of The Day and Listener’s Picks awards on garageband.com. The album won a Kweevak Award 2006. 200,000 copies of Sharp Practise’s music were distributed in France and the CD also became available in Canada. Radiocity was released under licence to in Germany and Sweden. A ghost story about our experiences while making this album was published by www.babbleandbeat.com.

A video for “Morgan’s Creek” from Radiocity was broadcast on Propeller TV to 48 countries across Europe and on StarChoice Satellite and Express-Vu Satellite Networks across Canada.

Third album “Banging The Rocks” was mastered by Gorillaz producer Fran Ashcroft. An animated video was made for the first single, “Sound of Rock”, and the song picked up considerable independent radio airplay across the UK. “Season of The Rose” spent several weeks on the UK unsigned chart, peaking at number 17. “Girls Don’t Look” reached number 36 on the same chart. The album has also gone down well with radio stations as far afield as the USA and Japan.

The Fatea Sessions showcase “Windswept” featured “Screw the Earth”, a song that has been selected for the soundtrack of a major new animated film, Odyssey 2050, which will be screened worldwide. Our blog at http://sharppractise.blogspot.com/ about how we made the album drove a lot of traffic to www.rockaffairs.com.

Live album “Now You See Us” was recorded during the band’s 2010 UK tour. The band’s first major tour back in 2005 was a five-week British expedition from London to Glasgow. Highlights included a show at the Cavern Club, Liverpool and an HMV showcase. More recent shows have included appearances at the Troubadour Club in London and the Deaf Institute in Manchester.

Sharp Practise is Nigel Clothier (vocals, keyboards and songwriter), Simon Foley (guitars), Michael Elwood (drums) and Ryan Lawson (bass). We are based in Wigan, Lancashire, England.
