red soda: RUDDER

The next CD for Red Soda is finally finished via the support of producer Richard Achor. It includes 11 new tracks recorded in super hi-fi at his Creative-Sync studio in Clermont, FL. The band's strength has always lied in their ability to play solid, unyielding music with harmonious interplay of the dual vocalists and songwriters Adriaan Mol and Tasha Drazich.

What is different with “Rudder” as compared to other Red Soda releases is the addition of a few new people. Conrad Wilson joined the group in 02’ providing not only an additional guitar rooted in classic rock but vocals textured in a high register. This compliments the pre-existing abstract guitar and low end vocal register of Adriaan Mol and intertwines with the smooth elegant vocals and pounding bass of Tasha Drazich. Mike Allen adds the fluid and hard hitting rock drumming that has been missing from Red Soda since the early 90‘s. He has played in plenty of bands such as New Roman Times, and The Washdown (Lookout).

In the recent past another CD entitled “:halo” was reviewed in various publications as The Big Takeover, Dirty Linen, Jersey Beat, and Alternative Press. It featured the single ""Magnet"" which was featured on the college radio show ""Joe's Blue Plate Special"", the most syndicated radio show in America with over 200 stations in its circulation. The track ""Out of the Fire"" was The Phillips File ""Pick of the week"" on Central Florida's WTKS 104.1.

While honing their skills on stage over the past few years prior to the release of :halo Red Soda has kept busy in the studio, the 5-song EP, “Underneath the Moon and Eyelashes“, which was co-produced by Jerry Teel of Chrome Cranks, Honeymoon Killers, and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s production fame. ""Judy Goes to Hell,"" a key track on the EP, was released on AAJ Records as a split 7-inch with indie favorite, Invaders from a Forbidden Planet. Red Soda is also included on “Regain the Lost Conversation“, a compilation CD released by the New Zealand label Sarang Bang Records. Of the compilation, Ink Nineteen Magazine writes, ""Red Soda sounds surprisingly at home on a New Zealand-based compilation. The group's dynamic, melodic sound seems to be equally informed by the guitar-noise vocabulary of Sonic Youth and the pop-craft of the Church."" Other artists featured on the compilation include Jason McNew's (Yo La Tengo) side project Dump, David Kilgour of the Clean and solo fame, and Ninety-Nine (ex Sleater-Kinny).

On their various tours, Red Soda has enjoyed playing with such artists as Lydia Lunch, Exene Cervenka, Versus, Five-Eight, and the Rondells. They have made regular appearances at such clubs as Arlene Grocery on Manhattan's Lower East Side and Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. They have also played some dates at the world famous CBGB. Some of their most recent shows have been at the Cave in Chapel Hill, NC and at the Social in downtown Orlando. They have also played the CMJ Music Marathon twice.
