“The Effects have a sound that travels well across airwaves.”
--Urban Tulsa
What was born in the fall of 2003 is a sound that captures late '90s rock, '70s Southern Rock, and the late '60s pop sensibilities. With a crisp voice, simple melodies, and distinctive chord progressions, The Effects are pure rock 'n roll.
These under age rural rockers released their self-titled album in April 2004 with support from radio stations like Z104.5 The Edge (Tulsa), Rock 102.3 (Tulsa), RSU 91.3 (Tulsa) and 94.7 The Buzz (Oklahoma City). The Effects hit the road rockin' all over the country with Velvet Revolver, Phantom Planet, Blue October, Hanson, The Music, Ingram Hill, Limbeck, The Feds, and many more. Selling over 2,000 copies to date, The Effects picked up an award for Best Local Album at the Tulsa World 2004 SPOT awards (Oklahoma's answer to the Grammy's).
In late 2004, they took the US and Canada by storm on their first national tour with pit stops at both coasts to showcase for several record labels. Hitting festivals like MobFest (Chicago), D-Fest (OKC), NEMO (Boston), and CMJ (NYC), The Effects are budding into the biggest buzz band of the year playing over 200 shows in North America without the help of a booking agent. In September 2005, The Effects took a detour from the road to stop in Philadelphia to record an album in the vein of rock roots; live and without the use of computers. This working band released their eponymous rural rock record in September 2005 selling over 1,200 albums to date without the help of a label. Their new album, “Nineteen,” captures The Effects story of development and growth during the past year.
With a continuously growing street team called The Cause, The Effects are able to take their high-energy rock 'n roll antics even further than imagined. So, watch for them because The Effects are everywhere.
