I was born, Blake Vaughan, on Fathers Day, June 15, 1952, to the parents of Guy and Betty Vaughan. We had a very humble beginning as my dad was a share cropper from Dover Arkansas and my mom a farmer’s daughter out side of Cimarron Kansas. We had no telephone and no television until I was about 8 years old. What we did have, thank God, was my mom and her love for music. She sang and played guitar and our house was always full of music. If you’ve seen the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou” then you just had a glimpse of what it was like around our house. Many an evening and weekend was a regular hoot-n-nanny. As far back as I can remember we had a guitar propped up against the living room wall and my folks had friends that would show up and music would play into the night. ..........thank you mom!
