Hip-Hop and Rap as we know it has evolved to being one of the most listened genres of music in the world. With so many different styles and flows, its hard to separate the good from the great in the Hip-Hop industry. All we can do is listen to whats being played, and decide if we like what we hear. Well, the ears of America will be in awe the moment they hear the versatility and unique flow of the rising Hip-Hop artist, Mikado. You might ask yourself, Mikado? What in the world does that mean? Well, the word, Mikado actually descends from the Japanese language. In translation, it means, The Divine Ruler. The name perfectly fits the artist as you will hear in his music why he feels that he is, The Divine Ruler Born in Dallas, TX, Mikado (Andrew Hunt IV), moved to Atlanta, GA during his young infant years. Growing up on the outer skirts of Atlanta, Mikado was surrounded by local lyricists, producers, and talented emcees that struggled just to get their music heard. He absorbed the different styles and started writing songs at the age of 13. It was the beginning era of the great emcee as we know it. At the age of 14, Mikado moved to his current home, Indianapolis, IN. In school, he was known for his athleticism, and not his music. He was a star football player for the school and slightly fell off for his drive for music. But, the passion he had for his music was much more larger than any other passion he had. He knew that music was the unique gift given to him, and somehow he had to show it. It wasnt until the 7th grade that Mikado would show his talent in front of all his family and peers as he performed at an open mic competition during Half-Time at a varsity basketball game. The crowd had Mikados back the entire way fueling him with the urge to let the whole hear what he had to say. After that, the school asked him to perform every varsity basketball half-time show for the rest of the year. Eventually, Mikado got his first independent recording deal. At the young age of 14, Mikado was overwhelmed with what was happening with him and his music. The exciting young artist started recording many songs with many different producers in the studio. Songs were getting stacked and stacked until he had enough to do almost 3 albums. However, the label was not fulfilling the terms of the contract that Mikado had signed and times and relationships got tense and frustrating. With another opportunity to sign with another independent label in Indianapolis, Mikado was released from his first label and signed to a more promising one. Again, it seemed like the process started all over for Mikado, as he was recording many songs with, again, many different producers, with no progress in his career. The frustrated artist started looking for different jobs so he could support himself and his family feeling like that his music is not going to realistically never take him anywhere. After a recording session one evening, one of the producers of the label introduced him to a local artist in Indianapolis, Hum-V of the Cleptoz. The Cleptoz is Indianapolis most popular local Hip-Hop group that is signed to the growing label, 3DUFF Entertainment. Hum-V loved Mikados style and asked him to do a show with the Cleptoz. Mikado agreed, and got material ready to perform at The Patio in Broad Ripple. After the show, the crowd, and 3DUFF Entertainment were all equally impressed. 3DUFF knew that they had a star on their hands and had to act quick. Negotiations were made with the label that Mikado was with. Now, the artist dwells with 3DUFF Entertainment, and everything has been nothing but positive moves since.
