Minneapolis band BLACK FLOOD DIESEL was assembled during 2000 by vocalist Greg Moog,
guitarist Bender (a.k.a. Benji Hellberg) and drummer Aric Day, this trio
subsequently bolstered by the arrival of bassist Kerry Dalton and guitarist
Eric Giardina. A formative guitarist, Bryan Ottoson, exited
to join AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE.
An exhaustive
live schedule rapidly saw the band fostering a loyal Midwest
fan base with notable supports to artists such as MUDVAYNE, PUDDLE OF MUDD,
STAIND, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, COLD and STAIND. BLACK FLOOD DIESEL cut a
three track demo in early 2003 at Oarfin Studios with engineer Todd Fitzgerald.
Since April of 2003 BLACK FLOOD DIESELs music has been featured in all the main events
of the Pay Per View Ultimate Fighting Championships and on the August 24th
national release of Ultimate Beatdowns Vol.1 Metal compilation CD out on NITRUS/DRT RECORDS. This compilation
featured BLACK FLOOD DIESEL, SLAYER, HATEBREED and many more.
2004 summer tour dates across the USA
saw the band allied with MOTOGRATER, SLITHERYN and 40
BELOW SUMMER.
In April 2005 Benji Hellberg acted stand in
for AMERICAN
HEAD CHARGE, substituting for the late guitarist Bryan Ottoson, who had
died mid-tour. Soon after Hellberg exits
BLACK FLOOD DIESEL to join AMERICAN
HEAD CHARGE and Hellberg is replaced with Aaron Woit.
Summer of 2005 BLACK FLOOD DIESEL enters Winterland Studios with producer Todd
Fitzgerald and records the new EP NEW
ASYLUM.
