Jacques Grant hitchiked the country in the 70's from Florida to Canada...Ann Arbor Michigan to Boulder Colorado, playing and singing for food and fun. He played and toured with dance bands, hung out with carnies, and studied what he felt he needed to play music. After a couple of years in Lubbock, Texas, Jacques found himself in Austin in the late 70's. There, he began learning some of the Chicago style blues being played around town. Hung out mostly at Antones, lived at the lake, Mehl's Motel, hitchiked up and down Congress avenue to eat at The Salvation Army, listened to music at the Armadillo. Jacques listened to the blues masters as they came through...Mel Brown, Sarah Brown, Clifton Chenier, Stevie, The T-Birds, Hubert Sumlin etc. that was a time when the BBQ legend Stubbs himself served up BBQ in the club from a little cart he had set up in the middle of the bar. Jacques has been in Austin ever since raising his 4 kids two of them now have bands of their own.
