The Brooks Sisters
Falling asleep beside drum kits and being packed into a gear-laden 1987 Toyota Tercel - these were typical moments in the upbringing of Caroline and Katherine - The Brooks Sisters. Born and raised in Whitby, Ontario the girls have been steeped in music for all of their lives. Caroline and Katherine started off performing as backup singers for their family band Brookfield, travelling to local folk festivals and clubs with their parents. But alas! The two were soon antsy to follow their own musical adventures, and in the summer of 2000, broke off as a duo and began playing as Eastbourne, which was lost to a few years of open stages, studies and writer’s block…
In Fall 2002, the girls headed back to the stage as “The Brooks Sisters”, paying homage to their family and folky roots. Caroline and Katherine (now 24 and 23 years old respectively) began playing their intelligent originals in solo shows and while opening for the likes of Susan Crowe, Katherine Wheatley and Ron Sexsmith in venues across Southern Ontario including Toronto’s Free Times Café, C’est What, and Hugh’s Room; Hamilton’s The Casbah; and Greenbank’s Folk Society.
Finally in 2005, with the help and friendship of associate producer Graeme Cornies and financial assistance from FACTOR, they released their first full length album, ""The Carport Sessions"". On a whim, the girls set off on a tour of Europe, playing venues in the UK, Holland, and Germany, where they charmed locals with their Canadian-bred sweetness. They’re back on home soil, excited about playing their honest music in venues across Canada.
Influenced by the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Sarah Harmer, Fredrick Brooks, Nick Drake, Teitur, and Joni Mitchell, The Brooks Sisters have managed to create a beautiful blend of folk and pop. Their powerful, soaring voices and tight, clean harmonies captivate a sound that only common blood can create. Coupled with honest and heartfelt lyrics, some fine guitar playing, and a show full of lively banter, these sisters are sure to wow.
""These ladies have burst on to the scene in a big way...this one's an A++!""

""Fresh and stunning...THE CARPORT SESSIONS positively overflows with soaring harmonies and vivid imagery, bringing a refreshingly unique artistry to the table that flies in the face of most debut recordings.""
