Disco Down was first synthesized on April 18, 1999, when audiochemists at The University of South Carolina exposed a mixture of Old Smuggler and Zippo fluid to a pattern of low-frequency sine waves approximating the bassline from ""Ace of Spades."" Rigorous testing determined that the resulting compound (a chalky, bluish-grey foam originally known as Substance D15-C0) was capable of sophisticated acoustical emissions in the presence of small children and other lower primates. The ""songs"" on this page are the fruit of experiments conducted in the Holland's Point Lutheran Church nursery and in front of the lemur exhibit at Riverbanks Zoo.
All kidding aside, Disco Down is the first solo project by world-renowned concertina virtuoso Bolton Snipe, the former leader of beloved post-rock revivalists Mi Tio Es Enfermo, Pero La Carretera Es Verde. All the tracks on this page were performed on a 1927 Donamicci and Sons Model DS-0770 concertina. For those out of the know, that's like the Stradivarius of concertinas. Only 63 of them were made. I had to kill two men to get my hands on one. One of those men was a friend of mine. I strangled him with piano wire in the dead of a moonless November night, so don't you $%&@ing dare tell me you've suffered for your art. You don't know suffering until you've stared with a murderer's eyes deep into the cold, lifeless face of a man you've loved like a brother since you were six years old. That's how much my art means to me. I can only hope it means as much to you.
