Marcus Singletary was born in Chicago. He taught himself to play several instruments at an early age. He is equally influenced by blues, classic rock, funk, jazz, and soul music.
After moving to Los Angeles in the early part of the decade, he quickly established himself as a force on the indie scene with several well-received album releases. The compilation disc ""Marcus Singletary Rocks,"" issued by Aviation Records, condensed this period's highlights onto a single CD.
Singletary's energetic live performances are a large part of what makes him a success. Type his name into the Youtube search engine and you can finally see him live, in living color.
Singletary is a graduate of Northwestern University. His 2005 CD ""Live at the Foxx"" earned praise from Jason Scales of Illinois Entertainer, among others; Scales, in his review of the album, accurately labeled Singletary an ""accomplished guitar soloist in the blues tradition.""
