Born in Canberra, 1984, alt-country singer songwriter Tom Woodward has performed countless gigs by himself and with his bands The Henchmen, The Spirits of the Dead and The Mating Season at various pubs, clubs and festivals across Australia. His first album, Blue Day Requiem, is now available. It cost him two and a half weeks of sleep and three months of manual labour to produce. It was well worth the effort. His songs are imaginative depictions of human life; he expresses the wonderment that comes purely from existing. In the tower of song, religion is a side-show; even science can’t or has yet to tell us what’s on the other side of the big black. This illogical void is inescapable, and Woodward sings from the darkest recess. Rapidly carving himself a niche as a reliable and trustworthy preacher of wicked & wanton hymns, Tom Woodward is performing in all decent venues across Australia throughout 2007, and will be touring the U.S from June to September, 2008.
