Gemma Heaney is an up and coming young Irish artist . her first album called ‘Footprints in the Sand’ has just been released in Ireland! She is currently number 10 in the unsigned music download charts in Ireland with her single ''As I Fall''. She has been played on Amercian and French radio and is currently number 12 on the Amercian playlist. A band she was in called ‘Race the Jet’ Playing her own song ‘Groovin ‘was played on an Irish TV programme Pop 4 chart show and she had interviews with various local press. She most recently supported Irish Singer/songwriter David Kitt. Her influences have infused her own style of music with a mixture of acoustic Folk, Blues and Rock. Inspired at a young age she started to play guitar and sing. Gemma Heaney has played at a lot of venues throughout Ireland and plans to tour soon with her new band The Hinges!

BIOGRAPHY!.............

Hi Everyone Welcome to my wee peice of space lol I'm known as 'Gem'. I am 25 years old from Co. Donegal in Ireland. I am a singer/songwriter and started playing and composing songs when I was about 15. I grew up listening to all types of music blues Irish traditional, celtic rock, folk and hard rock with bands like Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Howlin wolf, Robert Johnson, Led Zepplin, Neil Young, The Who, T. Rex and many more as influences in my music.. In my songs I think that the mixture of all these influences are apparent. I have played with a lot of bands both cover bands and original. I decided to go Solo and write record and play my own songs. I have written and composed over 80 songs and recorded most of them. I always loved music and love being around creative people. I think that musicians are the most interesting people that you will ever meet they all have a story to tell and most have been on so many journeys in life through their music!

A big influence on my music has been Rory Gallagher because he was born in Co. Donegal not far from me, I think he was an amazing blues player with passion for the blues like no other.

I studied music for 5 years, 2 in music performance and 3 in music production, the courses I have studied were very male dominated I was the only girl in a class of 35 men, so you had to fight your corner to get heard. I have to say a big thankyou to my family and friends for they're continued support for me and my music on this crazy journey!Now I have joined a new band The Hinges and we are currently gigging!
