Take a well acclaimed debut album, with worldwide sales from USA to Hong Kong, add radio play on BBC6, Xfm, BBC Radio 2 and numerous other stations, throw in an ‘explosive’ LIVE show and add some heavyweight fans including Bruce Dickinson (BBC6, Iron Maiden), Kenney Jones (The Who, Small Faces) and Steve Lamacq (Radio 1, 6 Music) and you have the growing success that is Helium Soul.
This 1st album, “Mass of Four, as well as gaining airplay, had them playing several live radio sessions and interviews across the UK. In their drive to develop the material, they went away and along with a line-up change, became three, essentially reinventing themselves. Out of this emerged their recognisable dark rootsy sound fired by an energy that continued to catapult it forwards.
This new edgy, retro yet contemporary mix of rock, and Nu-Blues defines the 2 singles to be released this year and album-to-come early ‘09. “Three Miles High” is the first single release, and coincides with a new Fan Club launch named “The 3 Mile High Club”… a natural choice.
Recognition of the band’s original, honest and intuitive music continues to grow as the new material introduces a fearless quality to their uniquely huge sound, and has already gained them slots on ITV Local channel, Meridian’s Top of The Ox show as well as an invite to the Top of The Ox awards show at The new Oxford Carling Academy to play a full set.
Russ (Guitar & Vocals), Ad (Bass) and Sam (Drums), create a chemistry that has produced many great LIVE shows delivered with swagger. All the band members have experience that belies their years; in particular, Russ has toured Festivals and Venues around Europe. His personal highlight was playing support for Blues Legend BB King at London’s Royal Albert Hall – a defining moment of which more will follow.
Helium Soul are undoubtedly on the rise.
