Johnny Afro is an American rapper, artist, producer, dj, and CEO of Bass Way International. He rose to prominence as a radio dj at KZSU Stanford and was part of the first Hip Hop record to come out of Stanford Univeristy. This record was You're Not Down as the Member Only Crew. Raised in Oklahoma, but Colorado born. Johnny's most prolific years have been as a resident of Northern California's Bay Area. His catalog includes over 40 independent cd releases. In addition to music Johnny Afro has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and owns a Computer Consulting Company founded in Palo Alto, CA. His latest activities include audio mastering and web page design. In addtion to his work and music he has volunteered for the local boys clubs, lived with Upward Bound Students, and earned a Dean's Service Award for his work with Epassa - The East Palo Alto Stanford Summer Academy. (A program that tutored youth from an underserved community)
