Coming straight from the outskirts of Seattle, the greatest music city in the country, emerges a hard melody beltin' band named Poorsport. With influences ranging from early-70's Punk to Orange County Hardcore to Frederick Chopin, Poorsport plays the tunes that are guaranteed to get at least one of your toes tapping. These four best friends have developed a one-of-a-kind musical style, fondly labeled Rain City Punk, that stands out in an industry of uniformity and monotony.
Currently, Poorsport is playing locally and regionally to expand their fan base and support the release of their second CD (fully financed and produced themselves). “No Hitter,” Poorsport’s sophomore LP, has 22 energy packed songs including fan favorites, “Lockdown” and “81”. You can also hear three similarly formatted songs that Poorsport wrote specifically to tell their listeners a little more about their individual personalities.
Sharing the stage with notable acts, including Guttermouth, River City Rebels, Butt Trumpet and Lagwagon, Poorsport is taking the Seattle scene by storm. The band is forming relationships with local venues and has become “staples” at Seattle’s own El Corazon (formerly Graceland). Poorsport was also selected out of 2600 bands to play the local stage at the Van’s Warped Tour 3 years in a row.
You can hear their music on the Poorsport MySpace (www.myspace.com/poorsport) and on PureVolume (www.purevolume.com/poorsport). Poorsport CD’s are also available through Tower Records, CD Baby and Starpolish. Check out these “poorsports” and don't miss the opportunity to have some fun with this unique and high-energy band.
