Harrison was formed in the fall of 1997 by Danny Jensen and James Harbinson. By 1998 Harrison had replaced the original drummer with long time friend Stephane Boucher and entered a battle of the bands contest in their hometown sponsored by a local radio station. Competing against over 300 bands Harrison rose through the ranks finally settling on second place overall and drawing the attention of all involved. With the prize money they recorded 7 original songs for their debut independent CD which was released in July 1999. Michael Freeman joined the band in October of 1999 to assume the role of lead vocals and Harrison has never looked back. Since posting some of the songs on mp3 format online there has been an avalanche of attention both at home and internationally. In August of 1999 http://www.mp3.com chose the song “Cool New One” as a pick hit and the site’s visits rose from 10 per day to over 7000 in two days. “Cool New One” saw it’s position on MP3’s Rock chart explode from 1243rd to 9th overall just beneath the legendary 10,000 Maniacs. On February 21st www.bandradio.com named Harrison 'Band of the Year.'
