sometimes it’s hard when you’re staring at me
not to hold on to the past
cause you have to start all over
when you once had it all
and now don’t want to loose it all
Yo La Lee started in 2006 when Lee while skating ran into Johan in the Dutch lowlands . He made a remark on her old school roller skates and soon they started writing songs together, resulting in their first album Driftwood -released December 2007-.
Most of the Driftwood songs were written in Panama, when Lee sailed an old rusty pirate ship owned by Berlin punk rockers in the spring of '07. The songs are about detachment, lyrics often stolen from desperados, refugees and bohemians Lee met on her trips.
In the summer of 2007, Moon Palace reached 28 in the Big 50 chart of the Independent Artist Company (IAC music) and was played a lot on internet radio stations together with the song Frida.
This year Yolalee does a small try out tour and is working on new songs. Lately, Lee left for Durban, never heard from her since.
