The band has been founded in 1995 as a duet of composers and performers of electronic music. They were: Barbara Zielinska-Van and Sabina Borner. Both artists got interest in this kind of music when they were studying at K. Szymanowski Musical Academy in Katowice. Their compositions enjoy frequent airplay both at local radio stations and at the Polish Radio Programme III, in programmes hosted by Jerzy Kordowicz. The duet also has been asked to play some gigs, the most important are: TenTaTo Galery in Katowice, ""Wagary"" in sports hall ""Spodek"" in Katowice, ""Music And Show"" Festival in Warsaw"", ""El-Izerie"" Festival, ""Korez"" Teatre, Szuster Palace in Warsaw, etc. Together Van & Borner have beautiful covers of Polish Christmas Carols in their catalogue. In February 2003 year Van & Borner record their first debut album ""Miracles"", where the girls asked to particate in this project Marek Gorlitz on guitars, Darek Budkiewicz on bass and Jola Literska on vocals. This album has its premiere during electronic music meeting in Langenfeld in Germany, where the bands has the stand of their distributor in Germany. Some of tracks has got the high positions on world radio playlists, ""Shadow Dancing"" track opens the meddle CD of the british music magazine ""Sequences"". To the next track ""Walking In Clouds"" has been realized the first video clip of the band which next has been emited in a prime time daily news in national TV ""Teleexpres"". In july the band plays at ""ZEF-Reactivation"" Music Festival in Pisz, in the same time Sabina Borner decides to left the band. That's why the band had to change the name in to VAN, and exist under this name so far, changing a little the style of music, adding some progressive elements and moods. In March 2004 the band play a tour together with russian band Romislokus. In june to the band comes a new vocalist Alina Trefon and new bassist Krzysztof Stasiak and the band prepared new ""live"" material of course including the tracks from ""Miracles"" as well as from Barbara solo album ""Secret Garden"". In March 2005 Van has been invited to play at one of the most famouse progressive festivals -The Baja Prog in Mexicali, Mexico, near such a stars as: Carl Palmer, Caravan, Taal, Ashtar, Ozric Tentacles, Tryo, Tripod and many many others. Its a ninth edition of this festival and two bands from Poland played there before: Ankh and Quidam. The band has been welcomed very warm by the warm mexican audience. After their come back to Poland, they record a new single which will be a first step for the forthcomming studio album, called ""Gate"". In June 2006 new VAN with: Barbara Zielinska on keyboards, Tylda Ciolkosz on vocals and violin, Adam Jasinski on bass guitar and Pawel Szczubial on guitar played in Germany ""Wave Gothic Treffen"" Festival, alongside Clan Of Xymos, Lacrimosa and VNV Nation.In 2007 we played for Emergenza Festival in Belgium,and league of rock in Poland as well as we passed the elimiantions to:Jarocin,MayDay,Rock-Skierniewice,Liga Rocka at Jelenia Gora,Stop Przemocy in Wejherowo,Karuzela 2007 in Warsaw,Elsauria in Warsaw and we finish 2007 year playing in Grodkow and Korez Theatre in Katowice.
