Hello, whoever you are.
My style is derived from listening to lots of old music and reading books. I am a great admirer of music from everywhere, especially during the 1960s and -70s. My songwriting style is both literary and entertaining. It supports a dreamy fugue. This is accomplished by the use of guitar, piano, and harp in my melodies. The combination of these instruments with my idiosyncratic vocal style summons an ethereal, bohemian mood, accentuated by a lo-fi recording culture. It is a tasteful recipe.
I have written about a variety of deep and shallow topics, performed divergently on, currently, 252 recorded songs over fifteen albums since 2004.
I would love it if you liked my music.

Alan Silva, Bohemian Troubadour
By Anonymous Biographer

Alan Silva began his musical voyage when he recorded his first album in Santa Barbara in 2001 when he was eighteen years old. These songs, however, were not published until his 2004 release, Boa Sina. Between 2001 and 2004 Silva continued recording songs while his musical style shifted into a bohemian troubadour mode. His 252 songs are available through Itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, CD Baby, and many other internet music retailers.
The volume of Silva’s 2004 releases reveals a diversity of leisurely moments and perspectives about songwriting. Not only does Silva’s voice change, but also his dramatic content which reflects a coming of age. The romantic complaint and bohemian philosophy are some of the interesting topics and themes involved in these recordings, which are further enumerated in 2004's Mystery House and 2005's Big Green Country.
By 2005, Silva sang about separation anxiety and existentialism. In many of his songs that year, his recordings vary significantly in their musical direction. Rose Blood features Silva playing piano for the first time. It also features his distinctive acoustic style on an array of lachrymose country-folk tunes. Gypsy Songs features Silva’s jazzy piano melodies coupled with surreal lyrics, sung with a humorous sense of fatalism. Mountain Stairs, recorded in his hometown of Ridgecrest, California, also offers verbosity and sounds such as piano, percussion, and acoustic and electric guitars.
After a tour of the Northwest, named “The Escape from Alcatraz Tour,” this material was followed by his folk confessional, Secret Life. His next release, the epic-length Changing the Guards features many songs resulting from a mysterious filming in Santa Barbara. Unfortunately, the film has yet to surface. Aviary Tomb, its follow-up, was recorded on location in Ridgecrest and Lake Tahoe using studio equipment from Silva’s music publisher, Lusitone Records. In 2007, Silva released the trilogy, Hunters and Hunted, Numas Estrelas, and Golden Palace, and perhaps his most perfect album yet, Flower People.
Alan Silva is a talented musician and a songwriter. His first album of 2008, Beach Songs, shows a style continuing to evolve, coinciding with an increase in his popularity. What does the future hold for Alan Silva? He would like to continue to record and write songs. He is keen to perform for food or money at restaurants, cafés, or small venues.
