The ParallaX you see today is the result of a long incubation process that started in 2006. A group of GCSE music students, Chris, Ed, Phil, James and Casey joined together to perform at a school concert. After the concert, Chris, Ed, Phil and James decided to form a band, 2 guitarists a singer and a drummer, leaving Casey to follow other interests.

Little happened for a long period of time, there were a few practices, and a few songs learnt over the next few months, and the band recruited a bassist from the year below who, after a gig in the school music department for a leaving student was swiftly kicked out of the band.

Again, little happened for a period of time. Josh was recruited into the band as a bassist, despite him never having played the instrument before (he had previously played guitar though.) This was the birth of ParallaX.

After a few practices, the band played again at the school concert one year later with this new line-up:
Chris Knight - Singer,
Phil Barry - Rhythm Guitarist,
James Young - Lead Guitarist,
Ed Martin - Drums,
Josh Flynn - Bass.
Since then the band has played a few local gigs, and come second in their first battle of the bands in Northallerton, despite a few hiccups during the gig.

Now, Parallax has recorded their first EP and are looking to expand their range of music, as well as continue to write their own music, experimenting within the realms of funk and rock. And who knows, maybe there's a lucky star for Parallax.

The Way
The opener to our four track EP, it is one of our favourite songs to play live and sums up what Parallax are all about, funky riffs, big beats and catchy hooks.
