Armed with an EP, a few guitars and some Tom Waits records, Love and War are at the forefront of a new harder edged roots music movement. Both live and on record they manage to blend their affection for edgy grooves with their love of great song-writing.
Recently described as “Ben Harper meets the Clash”, Love and War are carving a name for themselves as a band with a stormy and impressive live show. Hailing from South Sydney, the reggae-rock four piece combine manic slide guitars, a rock-solid rhythm section and cleansing song-writing with a flamboyant stage presence. The debut release ‘And If The Sky Falls’ has been received well by fans and radio stations alike and the independent band plays regularly at venues and festivals across Australia.
The backbone of the band met while on tour in Europe with a choir which won the Suma Cum Laude International Choral Competition in Vienna. The rest of the band came together through shared musical ambitions and ideas.
Obvious musical influences include Ben Harper, the Marley family and The Clash but there is underlining homage to Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
The musicians in Love and War are currently working hard on a very exciting new release.
