When Lilith Llame was born, the world was already full of beautiful sound. She was only 2 years old, when, very much to their later regret, her parents gave her her first musical instrument, which she fondly named the “LaLa”, of course due to its sound. Marvelling at all the different possibilities the LaLa gave her to express her feelings (happiness, sadness, anger, hunger etc.) it did not leave her side until in later years it was finally substituted by the flute, the guitar, the mandolin, the bass, drums, the didgeridoo, and the objects on the kitchen table.
Only late did she start to accompany her first compositions by her own voice. After the discovery of her voice she started playing in different bands from punk to jazz, experimenting with her new “instrument”.
Her environment supplied many influences; not only in musical form but also in form of ambient sounds. One of the greatest and most atmospheric environmental sounds, and probably the most influential in Liliths work, is RAIN.
“In the coastal regions of northern Europe”, she says “you learn to express yourself standing in the rain. Rain is in your everyday life. All your joy, sadness, anger and fear is expressed and become manifest in rain.”
The discovery of electronic devices for sound modulation opened a whole new world of possibilities to her. With this she now CREATES sounds which reflect her environment.
“It’s another step in our development when we find out how to successfully form and create our own environment”
