[To be read in the voice of a British narrator] Spit forth from the mouth of madness come Prosper or Perish riding full force, like a five headed hell horse. Spawned from the furious brutality that has been forged and anchored over the years by major acts from Black Sabbath and Pantera to more recent throne thieves, such as Hatebreed and Lamb of God, Prosper or Perish show no mercy and will trample all those who dare to stand in their path (as cliché as it may sound, it’s true).

In November 2005, four close friends gathered together in a basement in Northeast Philadelphia. Sharing a love and talent for heavy music, they formed a band called Fight the Day and were dedicated to making a memorable dent in the Metal community. Guitarists Sal DeJoseph and Chris Domzalski, bassist Jeff Karbow, and drummer Joe Konopka set out to bring their sound to the ears and hearts of those meant to hear it. They started writing songs as they combed the great city of Philadelphia in search of a vocalist who would compliment the sound and style they were creating. In late October 2006, Steve Stanley replied to an ad that Fight the Day had posted on Craig’s List . Steve was living in Upper Darby, PA at the time and heard a great amount of potential in their online song samples. He auditioned for the band and was immediately welcomed on board as they began writing feverishly for their demo. The recording was to begin within the first few weeks of the New Year, allowing them only two months to prepare for their studio debut. The puzzle was almost complete, but one piece still remained… a new name. During the writing process they soon realized they needed a name that would best convey the lyrical content and vision they had developed. Fight the Day was put to rest and from its ashes emerged Prosper or Perish.

In January 2007, Prosper or Perish entered Nebula Zone Recording Studios to record “The Dawning,” five tracks of raw passionate aggression, which was completed in only sixteen hours and posted online in its entirety. In support of their demo, Prosper or Perish took to the streets playing shows “any time… anywhere.” In the months following the release of “The Dawning,” schedule conflicts between work and practice began to brew for guitarist Sal DeJoseph. Sadly, in November 2007, Sal took his final bow with Prosper or Perish. Leaving on good terms, he remains great friends with the band to this day. A long time friend and supporter, Eric Benites, had recently undergone the break up of his band, Nothing Graceful, and was eager to help fill the void left by Sal. Eric’s style and expertise paired nicely with Chris’ dynamic chord structuring. Within just a few weeks of Sal’s departure, Eric quickly learned each song and was introduced as the new, official guitarist for Prosper or Perish. With a confident line up in place, attention was focused on writing new material and finessing the old tunes with spicy, new twists.

Early 2008 was spent writing, practicing, and playing shows as Prosper or Perish prepared for the pre-production of their first LP. Pre-production began in Summer 2008 at Fan Off Studios in South Philadelphia, PA with Adam Phaneuf (The Last Barbarians, Come Dionysus) behind the boards. The album will be titled “Humournity,” and focuses on the struggles we face collectively and as individuals, the choices we make, and how we will ultimately decide our own fate. With 12-16 bone-crushing tracks on board, the face smashing train, “Humournity,” is scheduled to arrive in mid 2010, claiming many victims.

Humournity
It's heavy, it's catchy, listen.
