Bobby Stewart’s music incorporates a wide range of stylistic elements, and has been described by critics as “unique” and “original.”

Stewart began his performing and recording career playing with various groups around the New York City area. Bobby Stewart and The I.D.'s developed a cult following playing at such legendary clubs as CBGB and Max’s Kansas City. When The I.D.'s disbanded Stewart signed with Warner Bros. Records as a solo artist and released ""Copyright On Love” - which charted nationally. Other successful recordings include ""Bottom Of The Drum"" and ""Dark Side Of Love"" on S.O.S Records.

Throughout his many projects Stewart has worked with an array of great musicians, including The Roches, Chris Botti, various members of The Psychedelic Furs and Buzzcocks, and others who have played with artists such as The B-52's, Joe Jackson, Robyn Hitchcock and Chaka Khan.

Stewart was also one of the original participants in the ""Loser's Lounge"" - a highly acclaimed series of songwriter tributes that continues to be performed in venues around New York City.

In 2001 Stewart was invited by the Woody Guthrie Foundation to create music for, and perform in concert, previously unrecorded lyrics written by Woody Guthrie, and in October of 2003 he released Volume One of a planned series of limited edition CD’s entitled “Live In New Amsterdam” on Plan B Music.

In 2005, Stewart and his band, The Contraires, contributed a track entitled “Happy Holiday” to the “Holiday Heart” benefit CD that was released in November of that year. The CD also included tracks by Ron Sexsmith, Rick Derringer and Prof. Louie & The Crowmatix amongst others.

2008 finds Stewart taking on the role of Executive Producer for “The Common Thread” by The Keith Reid Project (Rockville Records). The CD is a collection of songs that Keith has written outside of his work with Procol Harum (“A Whiter Shade Of Pale”). The CD features vocal performances by artists such as John Waite, Southside Johnny and Terry Reid amongst others.
