Formed in southern England in 1982 by Shankarji, Kulu and BassBob, of indie favourites The Chillum Brothers, Charas began as a rock band with heavy reggae influences. They played around the festival scene in southern England including the legendary Stonehenge festivals, the Elephant Fair and various other festivals and gatherings. Now signed to Kulu Productions they are concentrating on writing and recording and soaking up musical experiences as widely as possible. Although they still often hark back to their favourite reggae vibe, they now specialise in melodic electro-acoustic guitar based songs with a sense of intrigue and mystery.
