Welcome to Make-A-Star. Did you ever think you would get this far?
Honestly....NO...I am thrilled to be here!! And may I say, without the help and encouragement of all my brothers and sisters at HARDCOREPROMO.COM, I probably wouldn't be here right now...DJ Catatonic is a Fantastic Promoter and all the Artists in HCP are some of the BEST on the PLANET....just check them out and see....
MAS: What do you think it is about your song that it has gotten into the finals?
The Power of it...it makes one feel powerful and confident...it is a hard jamming tune, and I agree with the Industry reviewer; there is probably an untapped market out there for this type of music.
MAS: Have you been getting any e-mail from Fans? The Industry?
Some from fans, but none from Industry as of yet.
MAS: If so, what is the response to your song and your sound in general?
The fans that have written seem to love it; GREAT!!
MAS: What do you think about MakeaStar.com's Industry review service?
I think it is a valuable tool to any Musician or Band to use as a gauge to measure how they stack up to what the Industry is looking for.
MAS: What about the equal voting power being given to Fans and the Industry in the contests?
I feel it is fair...although fans actually BUY the music, so their opinion may be a little more weighty...
MAS: Was getting into the contest your primary goal or were you more interested in the industry review?
Both...I wanted both; but I guess getting in was the primary goal...I knew the song was pretty good already...does that sound arrogant?? :D Not meant to be...it ain't Great, but Good...
MAS: How did you develop your sound? Is there a primary songwriter? Is it collaborative?
It is all me and a friend of mine on drums...my sound just comes ad lib...I have no formal song per se...just off the cuff until it is right in my mind and ear...
MAS: Any influences you care to mention? What have other people compared you to?
Ted Nugent, Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Blackmore, Ace Frehley, Ronnie Montrose, Billy Gibbons
MAS: What do you think sets you apart from other Artists in your genre? Nothing spectacular, but I do have a "Chunky", Powerful Grinding sound to my tunes, I think...so I've been told, anyway...
MAS: It's obvious that your recorded material is great, but how about the live show?
GREAT??!! THANK YOU!! The live show, as is the case with ALL Acts, I think, would not be as attractive as the recording...the fans would have to judge, I guess...
MAS: Are you playing anywhere anytime soon? No...too busy at my DAY JOB!!
MAS: Have you released your music already? If so how, where and when? If not, do you plan to in the near future?
I have one CD available on MP3.com right now and 100 CD's on the way for distribution and sale; the title of the CD is "Ramifications"...also, I have another planned for this Spring...it will be titled "Sweet Rock Kandy", and it will be available on MP3.com also...I am looking at an Instrumental Rock/Metal label right now if they are interested in me...should know something on that soon...
MAS: Where would you like to see your music take you?
To the BANK!!!! Is that an All-American answer or what??!! :D
MAS: How realistic is that goal in terms of the immediate future?
Hopefully very realistic...I'll just have to wait and see where the cards fall....
MAS: What one band would you like to follow in the footsteps of down the road to success?
Ted Nugent...he Rocks, he has fun at it, and he's just a down-to-earth guy who doesn't have the Overblown Ego some musicians have...and he LOVES to PARTY...my kinda personality!!
Interview with Wednesday Elektra of Space Junkies Magazine -
[Wednesday]: Seismo!! How are things going so far this year?
Things are going great right now, Wednz, thanks in part to you and Space Junkies and AFB promoting my sounds around the net…several good things have happened over the last 3 months or so and it’s shaping up to be a good year I think…..
Wednesday: I know that I've interviewed you at least once in the past as well as working along side you over at AFBPromotions, but refresh our reader's memories about who you are and what you do ;)
The project “Seismic Anamoly” was started in 2002 by yours truly. I’ve been composing and playing since 2000, and my work is done primarily utilizing my Peavey EVH Wolfgang. I had a total of 13 #1's, 2 #2's, 1 #3, 1 #4, and 1 #5 on the now defunct MP3.com charts, and I’ve been featured on numerous music websites including MusicDish, mi2n, ZeBox, MP3 Unsigned, New Artists Radio, The Rockzone, Musician's Cyber Cooler, MakeAStar, BandTattoo, CDSmash, GetMeMusic, Magnatune, Space Junkies Magazine, Hardcore Promo, AFB Promotions, MP3 College Radio Network, 1215, Chicago Music Scene and many, many others.
I strive to capture and reflect the styles of Van Halen, Nugent, and others in my compositions; my tunes consist primarily of hard driving Power Metal/Rock with a little Acoustic thrown in here and there. These were the sounds that I grew up with and came to love....I still love them today....and I hope people enjoy it for what it is - body-movin', mind-pleasin' Metal/Rock ear candy.
I’m proudly represented and promoted by Magnatune Records of Berkeley, CA, USA, GMM Records of Worthing, England, UK, and Statue Records of Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Wednesday: I still have to watch that DVD you sent me, I know... I'm a bad kid. [Laughs]. Tell our readers more about the movie and are your tracks on any other soundtracks coming out soon (or already out) that you can tell us about?
The title of that particular movie is “The Plea”, directed by Edward Reasor and produced by Lightwave Films. Edward chose my tunes “Scuttlebutt Strut” and “Hong Kong Hustle” for use in the film; it’s about some college students who play a gameboard from an ancient Egyptian city. The winner of the game gets to rule the Egyptian Underworld for the next 1,000 years (or so her archeologist father says). Our winner is trapped in a sarcophagus while she is embalmed alive in preparation for her descent into the Underworld. She has seven days. Initially, she thinks the other kids are playing a prank on her. She uses her cell phone to try and get help and each person she calls ends up biting the bullet based on the state she is in (lonely, sad, panic, heat, hallucination, resignation, suffocation) - one for each day. Cool, eh??!! Hahaa…
There is another film coming out this summer entitled “Feral Autumn” I’m real excited about. It’s directed by Al “MIG” McFarland, who has a reputation for generating some really good stuff along the horror/suspense lines, and is being released by NYCVisions Films….he chose to use my tune “Crying In The Rain” in the soundtrack along with a Papa Roach tune, a Stevie Nicks tune and others; the soundtrack is expected to be released nationally this summer and hopefully will sell well….I sure hope so!!!
And there are two other films in production right now that my tunes will appear in; “Rest Stop” and “Niche”, both of which will be released later this summer.
Wednesday: How's the music coming these days? Sometimes it seems like you produce and put out album after album after album! How many albums do you currently have out and what is your latest one called?
The music production has slowed somewhat over the past year or so for various reasons, but I currently have 2 CD’s out on the GMM label and as of May 10th, 2 CD’s out on the Statue label. Some of the tunes overlap on the 2 different labels, but there are some that are unique to that particular CD also. My last 2 releases have been on the Statue label, so they are the most up-to-date. The latest release on May 10th is called “Code Red” on the Statue label.
Wednesday: How does your current music compare to the music you've done, let's say, three or four years ago?
I think what I do has moved from the Heavy Metal/Hard Rock arena into a more Classic Rock/R and B/Funk type of sound; there are some tunes on the new CD that are evidence of this. I just like to play music and the genre really means nothing to me…I just go with what I feel and what I like and hope the listener likes it, too.
Wednesday: How would you describe your music to our readers, especially to those that have never heard it before? Where can they check out samples of your work online?
My tunes are for the most part Hard Rock/Metal/Funk/R and B/Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals; they pretty much run the spectrum of genres. There is a little something there for every taste, I think.
Listeners can sample my work at the following sites:
http://www.artistlaunch.com
http://magnatune.com
http://www.audiostreet.net
http://www.imgifted.net
http://www.mixposure.com
http://theorchard.com
…or just go to “Google” and type in “Seismic Anamoly” without the quotes; you’ll get about 30 or so pages of websites with my stuff on them……
Wednesday: I like your new website, where can our readers stop by to check that out at, and what can they expect to see on it in the future?
Thank you, pretty lady!!! The URL is:
http://www.seismicanamoly.com
…and it just won the Atom Sounds “Best Of The Web 2005” award for music websites…I was kinda proud of that…I’ll keep it updated periodically on current news, my favorite places to surf, other killer artists I am proud to call my friends, etc.
Wednesday: What's the music scene like in Mississippi these days? I think you're the one and only artist I know from that state!!
The music scene around here is about 80 percent Country…Meridian is the birthplace of the Father of Country Music, Jimmie Rodgers, and it is definitely the predominant genre…there are a lot of up and coming young bands/artists around here though that play some pretty tight Rock/Metal/Acoustic…and I wouldn’t be surprised if in 10 years or so some of their names will be common knowledge on the charts…Pat Cannon, Ben Gibson, Clair Woods, Robert Brown, Taylor Ivey…just a few to be on the lookout for...they can light it up when they want to!! Makes us old “Dinosaur Rockers” proud to see them jamming to Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath…Sweet!!
Wednesday: Do you play live at all or do you enjoy being more of a studio musician? What are the benefits and disadvantages of each?
I only play live now at a couple of places around town here that have Jamm Session nights during the week or on the weekend…I don’t have my own band so it’s fun to get together with other local artists and see what comes out…sometimes it sounds pretty damn good I think…the benefit of that is that I ain’t gonna starve due to the fact that I work for a living during the day!! The downside would be that this will never turn into a career for me…but I never intended it to, really…..
Wednesday: Where do you currently record your music? Do you have your own studio or do you record at a pro studio?
I have my own small studio, if you will, at home…it ain’t much but it’s enough to do what I want to do….
Wednesday: What are some of your influences?
Jeez…let’s see…Leslie West, Robin Trower, Ted Nugent, Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Blackmore, Frank Marino…am I showing my age?? Hahaaaa…I really digg Zakk Wylde and Joe Satriani, too…..
Wednesday: Besides music, what are some of your favorite past times?
Love College Football season…..and during the summer months when I’m off work, spending as much time on the Beach as I can…Pensacola and Panama City Florida in particular…I also dabble with computers off and on…thought about doing that for a living more than once.
Wednesday: What are you working on for the remainder of the year?
Nothing really in the works right now…..I plan to release 1 more CD sometime next year and have about 6 songs for it now, but I’m kinda in the neutral mode right now……gonna call it “Without Warning”.
Wednesday: I know you have an enormously long list of accomplishments, but what have been some of the best accomplishments for you personally? Any that really stick out and make you say "wow, I can't believe I accomplished that"?
1. Getting my tune “Crying In The Rain” on the same CD as Papa Roach and a Stevie Nicks tune with the “Feral Autumn” soundtrack to be released nationally this Fall…..
2. Having "Howl At Tha Moon" featured on Skratch Magazine's Indie Music Giveaway Compilation CD included in issue #108, February, 2005
3. Having "Walkin' The Line" selected as a Finalist in the BLUE MAN GROUP Guitarist Search Opportunity at TonosPRO, August, 2003
4. Winning the "Guitarhoo MP3 challenge" at Guitarhoo.com for the period May/June, 2003
5. And having a Seismic Anamoly bio/article by MusicDish Music News Network featured on 34 different Music E-Zine websites during 2003
Those would be my most valued, I guess….
Wednesday: How can people get in touch with you for more information? And what are some websites they can find you on?
My e-mail is sanamoly@yahoo.com
Wednesday: Thanks, for taking the time to do this interview with me for the 3 year anniversary issue of Space Junkies Magazine! Do you have any advice, comments, information or other you'd like to leave our readers with in closing?
First, some advice for readers who play/compose music and are working to make it…..there will always be people out there that want to destroy/discredit what you do or have done, usually because of their own failures or inadequacy. Let me put this nicely; SCREW THEM. Keep doing what you’re doing. Let the pathetic souls wallow in their own misery and envy. Grab hold and go for it…shoot for the top. They’re jealous of YOU. Now ain’t that just Hilarious??!!
Secondly, Thank YOU for all you have done for the Scene and the Business over the last several years…and for all the promo you’ve given me and others who are out there in Cyberspace. It is Truly Appreciated!!! It was my PLEASURE to do this interview.
Thirdly, NEVER stop ROCKIN’. Long Live Rock/Metal…Past, Present and Future!!!!!
Interview with Robbert of Metalrage Magazine -
Seismic Anamoly - An Interview With Mike
* Heya Mike, how are you doing and how are things in the music scene?
Things are going great right now, Robbert...hope all is well with you and anyone else reading this. I feel that things in the music scene in general are going pretty well right now, but there are a ton of Indie acts out there right this minute that could probably blow the doors off of a lot of the mainstream acts that we see coming out for the first time. Hopefully those acts will get their shot someday soon.
* Do you play drums (if there are drums in the songs) or does someone else play them?
I dabble with drums when the mood hits.
* When did you get the idea of making this progressive instrumental rock/metal? And if you have another name for it, what is it then?
I don't know...it just sort of materialized while I was screwing around with my axe and piecing everything together. I guess that is about as good a name for it as I have ever heard; I don't have a "special" name for it.
* Which bands have influenced your music?
I have always been a huge fan of Van Halen. EVH can rip that axe of his a new one every time he picks it up. That's what I play; a Peavey EVH Wolfgang specially designed by the master himself. I am also a big fan of Ozzie Osbourne, Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore, Mountain and Leslie West, ZZ Top and Billy Gibbons, Ted Nugent, Ronnie Montrose, Robin Trower, and Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Call me an "Old Skool" Metalhead!!
* Will you ever play a gig? If so, how would it be, and if not, why not?
Well, there really is no "band" per se. I do my music mostly for the fun of it and I'm really not into it to "make a name for myself", although making a little cash out of it wouldn't be bad!!
* How do you make up the names with the songs, when they don't even feature lyrics?
Those names just pop into my head while I'm doing the tune. I try to name the song by the way it sounds. One example is "Way Of The Warrior"; it sounds like a bunch of Native Americans doing their War Dance in preparation to kick Custer's ass...or "Wreckinball"; just close your eyes and you can kinda visualize that big iron ball smashing a couple of buildings!!
* Do you think your music has changed since the first album 'Ramifications'?
I think it is pretty much the same except I've gotten a little better on the axe; that's not to say I'm great on it, just better!!
* What do you want to say to the readers of MetalRage?
I'd just like to say that YOU ALL ROCK TO THE EXTREME and that I appreciate you giving my music a listen; I do it for people like you who hopefully will appreciate it. Keep on Rockin' and Never Say Die!!
WHAT FANS/FELLOW ARTISTS HAD TO SAY:
Seismo...Dude, that's some awesome guitarin' you got goin'on. Very cool indeed; at times you swear the guitar is talking to you....
I don't know if this is what you were aiming for....but I got a cool vocalistic vibe from the way you played and phrased the guitar melodies. The cool funky track underneath seems to function as a music score on its own...kinda "Blade Runnerish" vibe. And the guitar is narrating a story to us. Very cool...gotta love it.

A brilliant track. The guitars sound so crunchy and powerful. The song title gives you an idea of what's going on in the musicians head as he created this. Aggresive track. You could play this at a party and it would lift the whole energy of the party up. Am now dancing around the living room and can no longer type as this song makes me want to "Howl at the Moon"!!

I've been a fan of Seismo since I first heard him. A great musician who's songs are original and have high quality production. 'Howl At Tha Moon' is vintage Seismo and would make an awesome soundtrack piece. It's like Soundgarden meets Joe Satriani at Van Halen's house! Brilliant!!!

I just listened to Seismo's "Howl at tha Moon" and I thought it was a really dynamic track. I love the use of counter melody...that is so cool. It feels like it should be in an action adventure https://www.tradebit.comething like a Vin Diesel Triple XXX kind of movie...It sounds Awesome!!! Seismo is Coooooool!
