Signe Tollefsen, born of a Dutch mother and American father, came to love music from an early age. She started singing at 7, taught herself guitar at 14 and at 15 moved from Utrecht (Holland) to the UK where she finished high school and studied classical singing at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Deciding classical singing was not for her, she moved to Hull to study philosophy. Inspired by the likes of Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and Ani DiFranco, Signe started singing her own compositions in public at the age of 19. At 20, she bought her first “serious” guitar, which marked the beginning of non-stop song writing and singing (and the end of reading Descartes and Kant).
Being stabbed in the heart every time she attended a concert, decided it really was music that she should do. What followed was an intimate portrayal of honest feelings and engaging tenderness. Her music is of a timeless european-country-folk era evoking sometimes a sweet melancholy other times searing passion.
Signe is currently studying voice and guitar at the Amsterdam Conservatory,Holland, whilst writing, recording and performing her own beautiful heart-felt songs.
