I'm old and when I try to sit up straight, my back goes "Pop". But I did just buy one of those mp3 players. I downloaded a song from Rhapsody and now my computer tells me I own it, bit I can't figure out how to ge it onto the player. I'm mostly a guitar player but I'm not as good as I used to be. I was a bare chested, spandex wearing poster boy for Aqua Net back in '86, but now the fingers don't move as fast as they used to. Come to think of it, none of me moves as fast as I used to. The funny thing is I don't care either. I wrote a bunch of songs back in the day, and we played 'em all across the USA when we were on the road. We had some fat cat manager types give us a whole line of crap about how they were going to take us out to Hollywood and make us the next Motley Crue. They gave us free drugs and Limo rides and we felt pretty cool. But nothing ever happened. One of my groupies got pregnant so I got off the road and had to get a real job. 20 years later, I'm still not too good at the real job thing, but I'm surviving I guess. Anyway, I always woke up in the morning with a really good song in my head. Back in the spandex days, I'd grab a guitar and we'd have a new song. Nowadays by the time I get up off the toilet, the song's gone. I guess you could say it wasn't worth a sh*t. Either that or my memory's just not what it used to be. Probably from all those nights partying with those manager guys. They always had good party accessories with them. They say that back in the '80's every dollar bill in the world had traces of cocaine on them. It was probably due to bands like us. We'd always get the week's pay in a big grocery bag full of 1's and 5's and a few 20's. I guess I should be happy that I survived it with just a few aches and some short term memory loss. Some of my buddies weren't so lucky. Steve's dead, don't know what happened to Mikey, Bill's a hopeless train wreck, you don't want to know about Dennis. So it's just me and Bruce now. I guess we'll never quit playing. It's in our blood and even though we're just Weekend Warriors, we're not giving up. You see, the music industry has changed a lot since 1982 and we're poised to ride the next wave. And it's coming. With the short attention span of kids these days, nothing has any staying power and you A&R guys are going to run out of original ideas pretty soon. So eventually, old fat guys are going to be the latest, greatest, coolest thing ever. So this is our first attempt at "uploading a mp3". Just wait. We are.
