Hi, Eric St-Onge here. You might think that Murderjetz is a band, but it's really just me. I have tried being in a bunch of bands in the past, but none of them ever worked out. I got tired of that sort of thing happening and decided to just go off on my own, do a solo project instead. I didn't want to use my real name, because I thought it was just boring, so I put my music under the name of Murderjetz. The name Murderjetz basically just came from a brainstorming session with a friend, and I just thought it sounded cool; no real meaning of any kind behind it. I'm not signed by a record label or anything, although I'd sure like to be.
I'm from Manitoba, Canada, and I'm 18 years old. Ever since I was very young, I had wanted to play the guitar. I don't really know why, or maybe I simply don't remember the reason why, but I just knew that I wanted to play. When I was 8, my parents got me into some classical guitar lessons. Even though I really wanted to play electric, I was still pretty happy with that; at least I was playing.
After a few years of taking lessons, my guitar teacher introduced me to Metallica by having me learn Nothing Else Matters. I liked it, listened to some of their other songs, and from then on I completely fell in love with Heavy Metal and Metallica.
Not too long after, I got my first electric guitar, and my interest in classical guitar lessons was diminishing. After a while, I stopped taking lessons because I just wanted to play on my own for fun, just play what I actually wanted to play...five years later, I'm still the same today, and I enjoy playing more than ever.
I became infatuated with instrumental music approximately four years ago. It really caught my ear. It was fresh, not having vocals in a song, just having the music to set a mood and make you feel the song.
About three years ago, I started being exposed to Trance music, as my brother started listening to some at the time. It didn't really catch my ear, although I did like the electronic sounds used in the music. Less than a year ago, I started listening to DJ Tiesto, simply to broaden my musical palette. Eventually, I discovered other styles of electronic music, and have grown a liking for it. I then started listening to Nine Inch Nails and have come to really love Industrial music. Nine Inch Nails has now become a very strong influence in my work.
