The Toltec, if they have to, describe their music as “Thrashcore”, which hints at its combination of heavy thrash and more dance-related styles of music. Punk cauldron jam sessions produce blizzards of guitar noise and oceans of feedback which the Toltec Emperor samples and sequences, producing a music that is better listened to than described. Based in East London’s mean streets, the Toltec are re-writing the rulebook big time. Remember the first time you heard “New Rose” or “Firestarter”? If the answer’s yes, proceed directly to “The Beast That Desires”. Toltec make all other bands sound easy listening…… You better watch out.
