'm a 50 something, physics undergrad turned teacher, software developer and tester, poet, muscian, singer songwriter, amateur theologian, intercessor and competitive rower. And I'm wandering into what's next, with some trepidation and some excitement at learning how faith works.

Zayra Yves Clark! Welcome! Yay! You are here. I love your poem. Your music is really cool too. Maybe we should collaborate on my next CD? I like your music a lot...let's talk soon. Missed you tonight at Red Room Poets.

learning to fly

I desire
to walk on water
twice

beyond the one initial step of faith
that crumbles
breaking the bridge out into the unknown
glimpsed
in a flash of insight
that frays and dissolves
like a dream on awakening
to let reality (the old ways)
reassert themselves
making it clear
who's boss
and who's world this is
that's being taken care of so well
so I won't hurt myself
in these wild flights of fancy

but the glimpse teases
from just beyond sight
just beyond the reach of doubt
and I walk through the doubt
attempting to block my way
to somehow ask
to somehow get back in that place of asking
for the special grace
that will let me take the 2nd
then 3rd and 4th steps
out on the water

oh, to move from impossible surprised astonish
to the familiar route home
making place
once again
for the next faith glimpse
that opens new worlds
beneath my feet
reluctant servants
learning to run
to fly
