The New Longview formed in San Luis Obispo, California in Fall of 2002, when vocalist/ guitarist Dan Curcio and guitarist Chris Arntzen began working on acoustic songs in the Cal Poly dorms. The acoustic sessions led to much of the songwriting for their first album ""Still Time."" It was not until a year later when guitarist Nick Bilich and drummer John Vucinich joined the group to accentuate the band's unique and dynamic sound. Throw in San Luis Obispo's best young bass player, Paul Smith-Stewart and The New Longview's sound has become something that has simply not been heard before. The New Longview's intricate jam based melodies and insightful lyrics force the listener to stop and think - a feat that few of today's bands have achieved. With a deep respect and understanding for the roots of music, The New Longview hopes to bring back the days when music was more than just a catchy single and a flashy music video. Although the band's time together has been relatively short, their talent and potential are obvious to all. Their debut album, “Still Time” was released in March of 2005. After The New Longview won a spot on New Rock 107.3’s SLO and Dysfunctional Vol. 3 compilation CD, their song “High Tide” was added to the regular rotation at the radio station. “High Tide” quickly rose to the #1 most played song on the station, and remained there for several weeks. In addition to headlining numerous times at the famous SLO Brew, they have also opened for bands such as Steel Pulse, ALO, The Expendables, Pepper, Ozomatli, and Strung Out.
