Mike Parrish has been writing songs since childhood just as his lifelong friend Sammy Hundley. While Mike took a few detours away from the music world, serving a hitch in the U.S. Army and afterward making a career in law enforcement as a Texas Peace Officer, Sammy continued honing his craft becoming one of the greatest guitar, bass guitar and keyboard players you'd ever hope to find. After quite a few years, Mike & Sammy both ended up returning to their hometown and upon hooking up with each other again they went about the business of making music. Sammy, who was playing with Houston's ""The Ruse"" introduced Mike to Ruse Drummer Alan Dossett at a nightspot called ""The Velvet Melvin"" and once Mike heard Alan's grooves he knew he'd eventually get Alan to lay the drum tracks for his album ""Texas in the Man"" which was in it's infancy at the time. All the instruments on the album were played by Sammy, Alan & Mike. Mike & Sammy went on to form Willow Street Entertainment Group which will soon be the home for their very own record label. In the meantime, the guys are beginning groundwork for Sammy's Acoustic Album, that he plans to release just prior to his R&B / Pop / Alternative album which will be entitled ""Undiscovered."" And dates are being scheduled for a short tour before beginning work on their southern rock / country Christmas album.

As for the songs on ""Texas in the Man"" most can be described in just a few words. For instance, the title cut ""Texas in the Man"" and ""Texas When I Die (Part II)"" are basically about Texas Pride.

""Goin' back to Texas"" is about the safety & security in being back home.

""Blue Jean Baby,"" . . . well, that one was just fun! Smokin' guitars, great beat, good for the soul and hard on the feet.

""Never Say Die"" is about keeping your goals and dreams in sight.

""Color Me Gone"" is about salvation from a bad relationship.

""Ain't We Got It Good"" is a tribute to male & female military personnel whether active, inactive, retired or deceased. ""Angel Fly"" is all about closure.

But as you listen to these songs you'll find a different topic in each, a flavorful variety of every emotion ranging from patriotism and sheer happiness to grief, freedom, and loyalty.
