Shelby Horner’s music career started in Loveland, Colorado in 1986. Growing up mostly in the Rocky Mountain State, Shelby was exposed to many kinds of music, his favorites being Country and Rock ‘n’ Roll. His country influences include George Strait, Randy Travis, and Garth Brooks. Mix in a little Styx and a dab of The Bob’s (an a cappella group), and you have yourself a well rounded singer! Yes, Shelby loves all types of music, but his heart remains deeply rooted in Country.

Shelby began singing when he joined the youth group at his church where he sang praise and worship songs as well as solos and duets from time to time. Even though he hadn’t had any vocal training, a member of the Valentine City Chorus asked him to join them. At the age of fourteen, Shelby was the youngest member to have ever joined that barbershop chorus. It was in this group that he was introduced to a capella singing and where he fostered his love for the "no strings attached" type of music and he sang with this group for the next four years.

He became a part of the Concert Choir and Show Choir "Chamber Singers" under the direction of Mrs. Cunnimgham (Mrs.C). He reflects, "Mrs. C gave me the strength and courage to follow my dreams."

In addition to being a member in the barbershop chorus and high school choir, Shelby was a member of the Colorado Academy of the Arts in Fort Collins, CO. He sang with the "Encore..,” Show Choir for five years, where each year, members were required to re-audition. “You were never assumed to be accepted.” Shelby also taught a few vocal and choreography classes for 7-10 year olds.

In 1993, Shelby walked into a local club where there was a karaoke show, and before he knew it, he and three young guys formed the a cappella group, “The Livin’ Daylites”. Two and a half weeks after forming the group, they cut an album and began performing all over Colorado and in some parts of Nebraska. In the fall of 1996, Shelby made the move to the Music City.

Shelby has written several songs, some of which are on his album, The Rest of the Dream. This is on his web site and for sale on shelbyhornermusic.com, CDBaby, Itunes, Rhapsody.com, Amazon.com, etc. Shelby has been a member of BMI since 2006.

Shelby has played in live venues all over Tennessee, Colorado, Ohio, and Nebraska. His song "I'm No Pushover Now" has been on FM J98 in Farmington, MO on a program called "Keep it or Kick it" with a 70% Keep it rating. He has also been on rotation with his song “Still” on Fm 96, KYKZ, Lake Charles, LA and FM 100.3, KRRV, Alexandria, LA. He has been on several Independent Music Charts, like indiecharts.com where he is ranked 4 for Country Music and 40 for Overall Genre. His music plays internationally on NixaCountry.com, along with several other internet radio stations.

In 2008, Shelby played in several different benefits, the most notable being for Cody Choate from Lebanon, TN, a little boy who passed away in a terrible ATV accident. This benefit raised over $40,000 and helped build the Cody Choate Memorial Stadium at the Jr. High School that Cody attended and played football for.

The week prior to the 2008 CMA Festival, Shelby debuted his first single "Baby I Bet" from The Rest of the Dream album and, in the following three weeks, song climbed to 84 on the "New Music Weekly" Charts and 25 on the “New Up and Coming Artists” Chart.

Shelby was interviewed twice and The Rest of the Dream was featured on Billy Block’s “Locals Only” radio show and he performed at the “Locals Only” show at the Nashville Palace.

During Nashville’s CMA Festival 2008, Shelby played for the Nixacountry.com Fan Club Party event at Fuel and at the Cadillac Ranch on Broadway, sharing the stage with artists like Kyle Jennings, Wild Honey(Can U Duet Finalist), and James Otto. Shelby also had many successful autograph signing sessions in the Nashville Convention Center at booths set up by Vault, Greased Lighting, Mr. Coffee and Select Comfort. He spent several hours doing interviews for Radio and Magazines, both national and international including BBC Radio, Country Stars Online Radio/Magazine, and Country Music Club of Switzerland.

Shelby is looking forward to 2009 in which he will be releasing his second CD as well as releasing a second single, Northern Born and Southern Bred. He will be performing during CRS Week and the CMA Festival and will be in the Nashville Convention Center to meet his fans, sign autographs and do interviews with Radio and Magazines again this year. He is looking forward to another successful year in which he will be playing live performances in the areas that he has played in previously as well as expanding into new areas, bringing his music to more of his fans.

Since the passing of his father, Denny. Shelby's drive to achieve a future in his music has grown stronger. His father was a constant and true encouragement of his son's music.
