Burn The Drama win Best Rock Band MusicOz 2007
Burn Baby Burn…
Burn The Drama get their name from the long list of ironic sagas that they’ve been through. The list spans from legal action, through to band members coming and going - thanks to broken limbs, overseas travel and more broken limbs. There have been destroyed recordings, prolonged auditions, name changes and hostage crises. Well maybe not the last one but you get the drift. This is a band that has been through a lot since they formed in 2003 and you can feel it in the band’s lyrics, sound and attitude.
The style and sound that they produce is different. It's indie yet in-your-face, progressive but powerful - at times it's emotive, but always driven with an energy born out of their turbulent past. The band's members – Joe Purcell (Drums), Rhys Graves (Bass), Nick Rudenno (Lead Guitar) and Steve Mulligan (Vocals / Guitar) - have an array of influences ranging from names like Muse, Editors, The Cult, Quicksand and The Killers.
Heading into 2008, Burn The Drama are gaining momentum. In addition to receiving the coveted MUSICOZ 2007 Award for the Best Rock Act, they were placed in the top 6 finalists in the 2007 Nokia Be Heard competition by a panel of Industry judges. The band is also building up on their growing live following with appearances on Channel Nine, MTV and Channel V, and airplay on local and national stations. There's also another EP due to be recorded soon... it's as yet untitled but if you were them you'd be forgiven for keeping a name under wraps lest someone slapped them with another law suit.
