"Porch Frog" came to life on a sticky July night in North Carolina, sitting on an old creaking porch with my dog snoring at my feet, fireflies blinking like tiny lanterns, and crickets filling the air with their steady rhythm. Then there he was—that one persistent little tree frog perched somewhere in the dark, croaking his low, unwavering song as if he had something important to say.In that moment, the frog wasn't just noise; he became a quiet translator for everything I couldn't quite put into words. The weight of old regrets, the slow letting go of yesterday, the simple truth that life keeps humming on even when your heart feels heavy. His call felt like forgiveness wrapped in humidity—gentle, repetitive, and oddly comforting. No big revelations, just a reminder that it's okay to sit still, breathe, and let the night carry what you don't need anymore. This track is part of the ongoing Tombstone Chronicles series, where everyday moments turn into small symphonies of healing. Acoustic guitar, soft vocals, and a whole lot of porch wisdom. Sometimes the smallest voices teach us the biggest lessons.

Porch Frog

I am sitting out here to hear crickets sing my name,
There's something other worldly about this song for rain
Porch boards creak in time from this old man's weight
A singing porch frog does his best to translate.
Fireflies are dancing in the humid July dark.
Are they chasing off shadows in my worn-out heart?
Porch frog welcomes storms like a bug in my hand, Does he sing for rain? Does he have a plan?

One little glow, that's all it takes tonight,
His aura is lambent in the fading light.
No big revelations, no thunder in the sky,
Porch frog and me watching yesterday die.
Porch frog sings low in time with the one,
Hypnotic and festive until the last note is done.

My old dog sleeps with his head on my boot,
Dreaming' of chasing' what he can't catch in truth.
Stars punch holes in the black like forgotten grace,
Reminding me I still have a welcome place.
Miles behind me, some paved, some dirt and stone,
But right here, right now, I ain't alone.

One little glow, that's all it takes tonight,
His aura is lambent in fading light.
Big revelations with thunder in the sky,
Porch frog and me watching yesterday die.
Porch frog sings low in time with the one,
Hypnotic and festive until the last note is done.

I am not asking' for miracles or gold,
Just a moment when the heavy gets old.
When burden lifts off from the sound of the porch frog
And the soul breathes easy, no more dialog.
With the ones who left, the fights I lost,
All is forgiven at whatever the cost.

Porch frog glow, carry me through the night,
Your aura pitch turns wrong into what's right.
Porch frog hums soft like a prayer unsaid,
"It's alright, brother... rest your head."
"It's alright, brother... rest your head."
